Troop 48 Welcome
Thank you for your new or continuing interest in Troop 48. We are chartered by Bayside Church and are part of the Discovery District, Golden Empire Council, Boy Scouts of America (BSA). This program is open to boys of any religious background. There are several troops in the area, and we are excited that you found our program the most beneficial for you and your son.
The goal of Troop 48 is to provide a safe environment for your son to develop basic leadership and outdoor skills by following the program provided by the BSA. We strictly adhere to the proven BSA training and development programs, advancement opportunities, and safety guidelines to afford your son the best scouting experience possible.
Meetings are held on Monday nights, 7:00 to 8:30 pm, at Bayside Church, C Building, Room C233, 8191 Sierra College Boulevard, Roseville, CA 95661. The 1st Monday of every month is for the Patrol Leader’s Council & Scoutmaster Meeting only. Troop Committee Meeting are on the 1st Monday of each month. The Regular Troop Meetings are on the 2nd through 5th Mondays of each month. Meetings start promptly at 7 pm so scouts should arrive 10-15 minutes early. Parents are welcome and encouraged to attend any and all of the meetings listed.
Troop 48 does not receive funding from any source. The Troop operates by collecting annual dues from each member and participating in fundraising activities. The monies collected cover Troop expenses including registration fees paid to the BSA, subscriptions to Boy’s Life Magazine, uniforms and accessories, advancement patches and awards, outings and events, equipment, maintenance and rental fees, training fees, websites, purchase of publications and office supplies, and donations to the Friends of Scouting.
To fully benefit from the scouting program, scouts are expected to attend troop meetings, outings, and service projects. Troop 48 has both mandatory and optional events throughout the year. A minimum 85% attendance rate for mandatory events is required for advancement and troop leadership positions. All scouts are expected to conduct themselves according to the Scout Oath, Scout Law, Outdoor Code, and the principles of Leave No Trace.
Thank you for your enthusiastic support!
